Heavy-duty woven geotextile,also known as woven fabric,is a geosynthetic material made from high-strength synthetic fibers(primarily polypropylene or polyester)woven together on industrial looms.Its structure is characterized by warp and weft yarns interlacing at right angles,forming a stable and high-strength planar structure.

Performance

High Tensile Strength and Low Elongation:This is the core performance of heavy-duty woven geotextiles.Tensile strength in the machine and cross-machine directions can range from 20 kN/m to over 400 kN/m,with elongation at break typically less than 15%.This”high-strength,low-elongation”characteristic allows it to effectively distribute loads and restrict lateral soil deformation,providing reinforcement.

Excellent Mechanical Properties:Includes puncture strength(e.g.,CBR puncture)and tear strength(e.g.,trapezoidal tear or grab tear),ensuring resistance to damage under complex loads and harsh installation conditions.

High Modulus of Elasticity:Exhibits minimal deformation under load,heavy-duty woven geotextiles can provide stable support.

Good Durability:Resistant to chemical corrosion,microorganisms,and insect damage.The addition of ultraviolet(UV)stabilizers effectively slows down degradation from sun exposure,ensuring performance over its design service life.

Apparent Opening Size(AOS-O90):The openings of heavy-duty woven geotextile fabrics are relatively uniform and controllable,effectively preventing the mixing of adjacent soil layers(separation function)while allowing water passage.However,its filtration(soil retention)performance is generally inferior to specifically designed non-woven geotextiles.

Friction Characteristics:Exhibits a high friction coefficient with soil,ensuring effective interaction between the reinforcing material and the backfill.

Application

1、Reinforcement and Stabilization:

Reinforced Soil Retaining Walls/Slopes:heavy duty woven geotextile fabric is placed in layers within the soil mass,using its high tensile capacity to withstand lateral earth pressure,enabling the construction of near-vertical,stable structures.

Soft Soil Foundation Reinforcement:Installed over soft subgrades to enhance the overall bearing capacity and stability of the foundation,used in roads,airports,storage yards,etc.

2、Separation:

Heavy duty woven geotextile fabric is used in railway and road bases to separate the base course aggregate from the soft subsoil.This prevents the aggregate from penetrating into the soft soil and stops the upward migration of fines,maintaining base course thickness and integrity.

3、Protection:

Used in conjunction with other materials(e.g.,geomembranes)in applications like landfills and tailings dams to protect the impermeable liner from puncture.
