Polyethylene woven geotextile fabric, commonly referred to as polyethylene woven fabric or PE woven geotextile, is a planar mesh-structured geosynthetic material. It is primarily produced using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as the raw material through processes including tape extrusion, weaving, and lamination (optional).

Performance

1、Excellent Mechanical Properties:

  • High Tensile Strength and Modulus:  Polyethylene woven geotextile exhibits high tensile strength and low elongation in both the warp and weft directions, effectively distributing loads and providing ideal reinforcement and stabilization.
  • High Tear Strength:  Can withstand mechanical damage during construction and use.
  • High Burst Strength and Grab Strength: Effectively resists localized concentrated stress from materials like crushed stone.

2、Outstanding Durability:

  • Chemical Corrosion Resistance: Polyethylene woven geotextile possesses strong corrosion resistance to chemicals such as acids, alkalis, salts, and oils, making it suitable for various complex soil and groundwater environments.
  • UV Resistance: The addition of UV stabilizers to the raw material allows it to maintain long-term performance stability in exposed environments.
  • Resistance to Microorganisms and Insects: Polyethylene material is not degraded by microorganisms, mold, insects, or ants.

3、Hydraulic Properties:

  • In-Plane Drainage Function: The gaps between the flat tapes form effective drainage channels, allowing efficient conveyance of liquids and gases along the plane of the fabric.
  • Soil Retention Property: When combined with non-woven geotextile, polyethylene woven fabric forms a reliable “filter layer,” preventing soil particle loss while maintaining water flow.

4、Construction Convenience:

  • Soft texture, possesses certain deformation resistance, and conforms well to the ground.
  • Lightweight, supplied in roll packaging, facilitating transport, cutting, and installation.

Application

1、Reinforcement and Stabilization:

  • PE woven geotextile is used in reinforced soil walls, bridge abutments, steep slope embankments, etc.,to enhance structural stability.
  • Treatment of soft soil foundations, distributing loads and reducing differential settlement.

2、Separation:

  • Used in railway and road subgrades to separate soil layers of different properties(e.g.,crushed stone base layer from soft subsoil layer),preventing intermixing and maintaining the integrity and bearing capacity of the structural layers.

3、Protection:

  • Serves as a protective layer for geomembranes(e.g.,HDPE impermeable liners),preventing puncture from overlying gravel or backfill soil.
  • Polyethylene woven geotextile fabric is used in slope and bed protection projects for rivers, coasts, and reservoirs to prevent soil erosion and water loss.

4、Drainage:

  • Utilizes its in-plane drainage capacity for horizontal drainage within soil masses, such as drainage behind retaining walls.

5、Other Applications:

  • Manufacturing geotextile bags and geotextile tubes for cofferdams, silt dewatering, etc.
  • Paving material for temporary roads.
