A triaxial geogrid is a three-dimensional mesh grating made primarily from polypropylene and formed through oriented stretching. Its unique triangular structure effectively distributes load, significantly enhances the tensile strength and stability of soil, and reduces uneven settlement.

Performance

1.Near-Isotropic Mechanical Behavior

This is its most distinctive feature.Unlike traditional biaxial geogrids,which have significant strength differences between their longitudinal and transverse directions,the stable triangular structure of the triaxial geogrid provides high strength and high modulus in all in-plane directions(0°,60°,120°).This allows it to uniformly distribute loads from various directions,making it particularly suitable for applications with random dynamic loads,such as vehicular traffic.

2.Excellent Long-Term Load-Bearing Capacity&Creep Resistance

During manufacturing,the polymer molecules are oriented along the stretch direction,increasing crystallinity.This gives the geogrid high tensile strength and superior creep resistance.This ensures minimal deformation under sustained long-term loading,providing durable and stable reinforcement.

3.Effective Soil Interlocking and Confinement Mechanism

Its unique triangular apertures interact with fill materials through two core mechanisms:

Passive Resistance:The geogrid’s transverse ribs provide strong lateral confinement to the aggregate particles lodged within its apertures.

Mechanical Interlock:Rough,granular soil particles are”locked”within the grid,creating a mechanical bond.

Together,these mechanisms transform granular fill into a reinforced composite with high overall stiffness and shear strength.

Unlike woven or bonded geogrids,triaxial geogrid is integrally formed as a single unit.This results in exceptionally high junction strength,ensuring structural integrity and reliability under load without the risk of node failure.
